The Broughton Capitals had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 42-32 win over Heritage on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Broughton also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Broughton found their leader in underclassman Jane Kern, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kern has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kalajah Wright, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Broughton's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Heritage, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broughton will challenge Apex Friendship at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Apex Friendship presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Broughton in North Carolina (Apex Friendship is ranked 165th, while Broughton is ranked 345th). As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to take on Cardinal Gibbons at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Cardinal Gibbons is on a three-game streak of home losses, Heritage a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
