The Yellowjackets expanded their lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. Fort Mill scored once in the quarter on a Wells touchdown pass to
Deryan Sanders.
Scott Jackson made a difference for
Clover (S.C.). The junior quarterback ran for one touchdown.
Wells was the top performer for FM. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and kicked one field goal and five extra points. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
The Yellowjackets entered the contest giving up 29.8 points per game this year. Fort Mill held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Blue Eagles well above the 4.3 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory will ease some of the sting of FM's close 49-45 loss to Clover last season.
Fort Mill (6-4) will play a AAAA Region III game against Nation Ford next week, while Clover (0-10) will take on York also in a AAAA Region III game.
