This week's postseason excitement didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. We'll tackle all that (plus a new number one team) in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Thompson got a 31 - 28 win over Hoover last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Shadrick Byrd. Byrd ran for 124 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. That performance made Byrd one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (13 consecutive games). Central got a somewhat close 34 - 27 victory over Lee. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since Central actually slipped two places in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Pinson Valley (4th in the power rankings) and Clay-Chalkville (3rd). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Clay-Chalkville and Pinson Valley both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Clay-Chalkville with ten and Pinson Valley with nine), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
