WPIAL AA Century recap Sept. 26, 2012
Keystone Oaks's Dale Klobuchir recorded the longest rushing play in WPIAL AA Century this season in his game against Quaker Valley last week. Klobuchir's team fell to the Quakers as he sprinted for 68 yards on the play and finished with 186 in all.
South Fayette extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Burgettstown, 56-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Lions.
Keystone Oaks' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kobe Phillippi threw for 91 yards and Cory Sevacko had 72 yards receiving. Tyler Chiocca helped Keystone Oaks' passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.
Keystone Oaks' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Golden Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Phillippi has thrown for 333 yards and one touchdown this season, while Sevacko has 15 catches for 192 yards. Klobuchir leads the league in rushing with 328 yards.
The top two teams in WPIAL AA Century will face off this week when first place South Fayette takes on second place Seton LaSalle. South Fayette topped the Blue Devils last week, while Seton LaSalle beat Steel Valley.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Rebels take on Joe Rossi's team. Seton LaSalle has allowed seven points this season, while the Lions have given up 12. Greg Perry's team allowed 7 points last week as it bested the Ironmen.
McGuffey moved up to 278 from 501 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Highlanders were able to make the jump by beating Freedom Area 39-13.
