The Pine Forest Trojans struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Saturday (the Riverside Christian Academy Royals were 25% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Pine Forest took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverside Christian Academy.
Pine Forest's loss came despite strong showings from Chloe Wilson and Tahlia Glover. Wilson dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Glover scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Glover has scored all season.
Riverside Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zamaria Mellette, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds. Mellette is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Autry, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Pine Forest now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Riverside Christian Academy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Forest on the road again on Tuesday and play against Harnett Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Riverside Christian Academy, they will take on American Leadership Academy-Johnston at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
