The Mammoth Huskies suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Rosamond 71-14. Mammoth has not had much luck with Rosamond recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Mammoth lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nicole Smyth. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with two steals. Smyth hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Lynch, who scored three points along with five rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mammoth struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rosamond racked up 16 assists.
Rosamond's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nadiyah Baladez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baladez has scored all season. Rihanna Williams was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Mammoth has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Rosamond, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Mammoth will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Kern Valley at 5:30 p.m. As for Rosamond, they will head out on the road to face off against California City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. California City is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
