North Sand Mountain is 0-4 against Collinsville since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North Sand Mountain Bison will head out on the road to face off against the Collinsville Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, North Sand Mountain was fully in charge, breezing past Section 51-7 at home. The victory was just what North Sand Mountain needed coming off of a 54-13 loss in their prior match.
The team won by holding Section to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to North Sand Mountain's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Cruz Yates and Myles Gottmann who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Collinsville put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whitesburg Christian Academy 55-14 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Collinsville.
North Sand Mountain's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33 points. As for Collinsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
North Sand Mountain ended up a good deal behind Collinsville in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, losing 28-12. Can North Sand Mountain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
