The William Campbell Generals lost against the Gretna Hawks back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. William Campbell took a 25-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gretna. William Campbell has struggled against Gretna recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Gretna had a senior duo take command as Amare Gunn picked up 150 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Melvin Wooden threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes. Gunn's longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards.
William Campbell has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Gretna, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. William Campbell will take on Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Franklin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Gretna, they will be playing at home against Floyd County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Floyd County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
