Baseball Recap: Belleview Starts Season with Win Against Citrus

Belleview took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Citrus Hurricanes with a sharp 12-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rattlers in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won five in a row.

Logan Chen was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Chen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Gilbehert Mendoza was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lazaro Martinez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Belleview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Citrus only posted a batting average of .176.

Belleview has already played their next contest, an 8-0 loss against South Lake on the 13th. As for Citrus, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-6 defeat against Forest on the 11th.
