Durand is 8-2 against Byron since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Durand Railroaders will head out on the road to face off against the Byron Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Durand focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday.
Durand pushed their score all the way to 56, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Chesaning 61-56. While losing is never fun, Durand can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while Chesaning is ranked 70th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kwin Knapp, who scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Levi Smith, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Byron came up short against Mt. Morris on Friday and fell 65-52. Byron has not had much luck with Mt. Morris recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Their wins bumped Durand to 2-2 and Chesaning to 4-0.
Everything came up roses for Durand against Byron in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 73-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Durand since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
