Basketball Recap: Evan Burns Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Deridder

Lake Charles College Prep won the last time they faced DeRidder and things went their way on Monday too. The Trailblazers put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 67-45 win. The Trailblazers pushed the score to 49-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dragons cut but never quite recovered from.

Lake Charles College Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Burns, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Juriah Matthews, who scored ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Lake Charles College Prep has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 57.5 points this season. As for DeRidder, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Lake Charles College Prep and DeRidder will both be playing Sam Houston the next time they take the court. The Dragons will head out to face the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Trailblazers will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
