Academy of the Holy Names has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Academy of the Holy Names has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Academy of the Holy Names stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Carrollwood Day at home to the tune of 63-25. Given Academy of the Holy Names' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Carrollwood Day is ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lucy Morey was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with eight steals and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grace Gavin, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Wiregrass Ranch was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 41-36 to Mitchell. Wiregrass Ranch has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Academy of the Holy Names has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Wiregrass Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Everything came up roses for Academy of the Holy Names against Wiregrass Ranch in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 60-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Academy of the Holy Names since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
