The town of Loganville, Ga., accounts for the top two players in the Class of 2013, but the traditional power states of Texas, Florida and California make up nearly half of the MaxPreps Top 100 Seniors list.
Clint Frazier of Loganville (Ga.) and Austin Meadows of Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) top the list of seniors, which is based on draft potential, preseason recognition, summer all-star games and showcases, high school awards and statistics. Both are outfielders and have been tabbed to go among the top 10 players in the 2013 MLB Draft.
The rest of the list, however, is dominated by California, Texas and Florida. California has the most entrants on the list with 18, including No. 3 Dominic Smith of Serra (Gardena) and J.P. Crawford of Lakewood. Florida is second with 15 selections, led by No. 9 Oscar Mercado of Gaither. Texas has 12 players on the list, headed by No. 6 Kohl Stewart of St. Pius X (Houston).
Georgia, with eight players, is the only other state with more three players on the list.

"Mercado is every baseball cliché rolled into one – in a very good way.
He’s a ‘first to arrive, last to leave’ guy, he’s a ‘vocal leader’ guy, a
‘lead by example’ guy, he’s a coach’s dream before you even get to the
talent. From there, he can hit, field, throw, run and with a little more
power development, he could easily wear the ‘five-tool’ label."

@ryaber)"He suffered a bit offensively early last season as he worked to regain his strength following an off-season injury, but Denney finished strong at the plate. That doesn't matter, though, as much as his work behind the plate. His pop time is unreal, though, checking in at about 1.65 seconds. The way he works behind the plate has many thinking he could be the best player Yukon has ever produced. That's high praise for a team that just four years ago had a player drafted No. 18 overall."

"Morales had a good junior season, going 6-1 with a 0.99 ERA,
but he was brought along slowly. This summer he was turned loose and
showed tremendous growth in Perfect Game and Under Armour appearances,
turning a lot of heads. He’s a scout-pleaser because he’s showed so much
improvement and he seems to still have a lot of room to continue his
development. He’s big, durable and athletic, playing third base and
hitting in the middle of King’s lineup when not pitching."

as a little child, and now check out his ability to ransack teams as a
slugger. When he hit a home run in the rain that landed over the
right-field berm at Raley Field, you knew for certain this guy was a
monster talent. Who hits home runs that far? In high school? Tellez has a
great swing and work ethic. He's the most feared power hitter in
Northern California and every bit worth the hype and worth watching."
