In what's become a running theme this season, the Kim/Branson Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 55-18 victory over Manzanola. That 37 points margin sets a new team best for Kim/Branson this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kim/Branson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Will Doherty, who scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Doherty has scored all season. Trotter Watkins was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Manzanola lost, one person who can't be blamed is Canye Trujillo. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with four blocks. That was a full 55.6% of Manzanola's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The win makes it two in a row for Kim/Branson and bumps their season record up to 3-6. As for Manzanola, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kim/Branson won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wiley at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Wiley is ranked 277th, while Kim/Branson is ranked 279th). As for Manzanola, they will be playing at home against Colorado School for the Deaf Blind at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
