The Whiting Oilers came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They slipped by Wheeler 44-43 on Monday. The victory was just what Whiting needed coming off of a 73-44 defeat in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whiting to victory, but perhaps none more so than Beau Harbin, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harbin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Davenport, who scored eight points along with 20 rebounds and two blocks.
Wheeler's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marek Barton, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Brady Rife, who scored 11 points.
Whiting's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12. As for Wheeler, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whiting will take on the Satellites at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wheeler, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Boone Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Friday.
