The Rocky River Ravens pushed their score all the way to 66 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 75-66 to Johnson. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (60), Rocky River still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Rocky River still got an impressive performance from Markiest Houston, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Houston also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ross, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Rocky River were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Johnson only posted eight assists.
Joshua Quarterman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Johnson, scoring 22 points along with six steals. Quarterman also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Cormari Jones was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Rocky River has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Johnson, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Rocky River won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mt. Bethel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Mt. Bethel Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Johnson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beach at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Johnson is ranked 103rd).
