This week's postseason action didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
Have a Day
Independence got a 32 - 7 win over Jackson last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Demontae Taylor. Taylor ran for 238 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. That performance made Taylor one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Top Game
The showdown between Pickerington Central (8th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Northmont (14th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Pickerington Central earned a pretty comfortable 41 - 21 victory over Northmont. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since Pickerington Central actually slipped one place in the power rankings.
Points Galore
Bishop Hartley was heavily favored to win coming into its game last week, and the results showcase why. The final score between it and New Philadelphia was a 62 - 21 blowout in Bishop Hartley's favor. Bishop Hartley had two big standouts, as senior Elijah Carter earned four touchdowns and 162 yards rushing the ball, while freshman Benjamin (malik) king ran for 162 yards and also punched in four touchdowns. The combined 83-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Upcoming Drama
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Pickerington North (4th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Centerville (5th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Pickerington North and Centerville both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Pickerington North with eight and Centerville with four), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
