Football Recap: Blue Hill Piles Up the Points Against Axtell

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wilcox-Hildreth, Blue Hill was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They claimed a resounding 58-6 victory over the Axtell Wildcats. This was payback for the Bobcats, who suffered a 62-46 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jack Canterberry had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 166 yards and six TDs while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 13 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Blue Hill didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Axtell to a completion percentage of just 30.8%. The Bobcats have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.

Blue Hill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Canterberry picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He also punched in six rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Blue Hill is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. Canterberry got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Axtell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nic Dahl rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown. Those 107 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Dahl.

Blue Hill's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Axtell, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Blue Hill has already played their next contest, a 34-12 loss against Franklin on the 10th. As for Axtell, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-0 defeat against Elm Creek on the 10th.
