The Pinole Valley Spartans won against the De Anza Dons last Tuesday with 59 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Pinole Valley skirted past De Anza 59-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Pinole Valley was led to victory by Jaylin Reed and Chriseanie Nealy. Reed scored 17 points along with three blocks and two steals, while Nealy scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Nealy hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Romyn Waugh, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Pinole Valley and bumps their season record up to 9-10. As for De Anza, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinole Valley will take on Analy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Analy is ranked 474th, while Pinole Valley is ranked 455th). As for De Anza, they will head out on the road to square off against San Lorenzo at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. San Lorenzo is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
