Battle Ground hasn't had much luck against Skyview recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Storm at 4:30 p.m. Battle Ground is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Battle Ground and Heritage, and Heritage kept the tradition alive. The Tigers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-6 to the Timberwolves, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Paige Vuylsteke and McKenna Fields stepped up to the plate in a big way. Vuylsteke went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Fields got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Fields is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lainey McMullen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Skyview came tearing into back in March's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Timberwolves 13-3. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Skyview also got a great performance from Madison Paik as she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Audrey Jackson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Lila Alvarado was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Skyview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only posted a batting average of .083.
Skyview's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Battle Ground, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Battle Ground hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Skyview struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Battle Ground might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Skyview in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
