It was a good run, but the Cabrillo Conquistadores unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 43-30 to South. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cabrillo has scored all season.
Cabrillo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Natalie McCune, who scored six points along with nine rebounds. McCune is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Jenkins, who scored six points along with six steals.
Cabrillo's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for South, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Cabrillo won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carlmont at 1:30 p.m. on December 30th. Carlmont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 559th, while Cabrillo is ranked 149th). As for South, they will be playing at home against El Segundo at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
