The Walnut Grove Christian Christian Warriors will be home for the holidays to greet the Lab University Prep Regional Lab Rats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses dating back to last season for Walnut Grove Christian and three for Lab University Prep Regional.
Walnut Grove Christian's 15-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were dealt a 80-39 loss at the hands of Jackson Day on Tuesday. Walnut Grove Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-14.
Despite the defeat, Walnut Grove Christian had strong showings from Lucas Thomason, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds, and Jake Schlosser, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Schlosser pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lab University Prep Regional was beaten by Shining Light Academy 83-44 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Lab University Prep Regional can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while Shining Light Academy is ranked 116th).
Walnut Grove Christian bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Lab University Prep Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
