After losing to the Granite Hills Eagles the last time they met, the Valley Center Jaguars decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Valley Center came out on top against Granite Hills by a score of 64-52 on Saturday.
Valley Center was led to victory by Kevin Garcia and Carson Yoder. Garcia scored 20 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds, while Yoder scored 24 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Yoder has scored at least 25% of Valley Center's points. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Zetmeir, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Granite Hills' loss came despite strong showings from Robert Petrich and Andre Dankha. Petrich scored 18 points along with six rebounds, while Dankha scored 19 points along with three steals. The matchup was Dankha's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Zac Benitez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 15 rebounds.
Valley Center's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Granite Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Valley Center will head out on the road to face off against Pacific Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pacific Ridge is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Granite Hills, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. Southwest EC will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1265th, while Granite Hills is ranked 624th).
