Football Recap: Garrison Piles Up the Points Against Hemphill

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Garrison). They blew past the Hemphill Hornets 55-10 on Friday. The Bulldogs have beaten the Hornets the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hornets has come to flipping the script.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Avery Yarbrough and Carter Crawford. Yarbrough gained 185 total yards and four touchdowns while Crawford rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Crawford has become a key player for Garrison: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

Garrison was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 272 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 225 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Garrison, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Yarbrough, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Garrison's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Hemphill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
