Even though the Benson Bunnies scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, the Bryan Bears still came out on top. Bryan managed a 61-55 victory over the Bunnies. Given Bryan's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Bunnies are ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
A'mare Bynum was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-7 from long range and dropping a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. LC Doss was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Several Bunnies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Goanar Bamach, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ne'rae Lee, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Bryan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Benson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Bryan will be playing at home against the Dragons at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Gretna will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Benson, they will head out on the road to challenge the Monarchs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Papillion-LaVista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
