After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fillmore Central, the Fairbury Jeffs were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 52-23 win over Superior. Given Fairbury's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Superior is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Fairbury to victory were Brodie Prellwitz and Blake Starr. Prellwitz dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Starr scored 22 points along with 6 rebounds. The match was Starr's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Drew Watson, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Fairbury now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Superior, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Fairbury will be playing at home against Milford at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Superior, they will head out on the road to face off against Wilber-Clatonia at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Wilber-Clatonia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
