The Mead Mavericks entered their tilt with the Silver Creek Raptors with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Mead managed a 56-50 win over Silver Creek on Friday. This was payback for Mead, who suffered a 57-48 loss the last time these two teams met.
Mead got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Angelo out in front who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Angelo is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Dominic McLawrence was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Silver Creek's loss came despite strong showings from Gabe Selby and Luke Schmeeckle. Selby scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Schmeeckle scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Storz, who scored three points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Mead's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Silver Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-3.
Mead will head out on the road to face off against Centaurus at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Mead's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Silver Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Windsor at 7:00 p.m. Windsor will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Silver Creek surely won't give up without a fight.
