Pasco hasn't had much luck against Sunlake recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Pasco Pirates will be playing at home against the Sunlake Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row dating back to last season, Pasco turned things around against Central on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over the Bears. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Pirates' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Abigail Grubbs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those runs were her first of the season.
Grubbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases marked the first that Garcia snagged this season. Sophia Torres was another, scoring two runs.
Meanwhile, Sunlake sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Nature Coast Tech on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Seahawks.
Madison Siders looked comfortable as she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.
At the plate, Addison Barningham was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Avant, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Sunlake's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Pasco, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
