Meanwhile, Lake came tearing into last Thursday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Bulldogs.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Lake took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-12, 25-9.
Vermilion better keep an eye on Calli Conley. She was instrumental in Lake's win, getting 15 digs and three aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Kortney Rollins, who had four digs and four aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Lake was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive contests.
Vermilion's record now sits at 10-13. As for Lake, their record is now 17-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Vermilion has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Vermilion skirted past Lake 3-2 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Flyers' Sydney Stanley, who had 29 digs and eight assists.
