Plymouth and Mapleton are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Big Red will venture away from home to take on the Mounties at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Plymouth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Plymouth came out on top against New London on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Big Red never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Big Red this season.

Jarrett Burrer was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Plymouth is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Burrer was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keegan Beverly, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Hunter McClure also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Plymouth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Mapleton came out on top against St. Paul on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Mounties took their matchup against the Flyers 9-5.
Gabe Wrobleski was incredible, going 2-for-4 with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Tyson Welch was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Plymouth now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Mapleton, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.
Plymouth suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Mapleton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Big Red avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
