Millard West has gone 8-1 against Skutt Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Millard West will be playing in front of their home fans against Skutt Catholic at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Millard West was able to grind out a solid victory over Omaha Central, taking the game 7-4. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Dominic Audino looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Jackson Thiel was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That hit was his first of the season. Jake Daniel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Skutt Catholic entered their tilt with Gretna on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 5-2.
Easton Elam tossed a big game, not allowing a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Van Dyke, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Kolega, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Skutt Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gretna struck out 11 times.
Skutt Catholic's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Millard West, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Millard West has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Skutt Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
