Basketball Recap: Mortimer Jordan Falls Despite Big Games from Kaleah Chatman and Mattie Machen + How To Watch

Mortimer Jordan was the 53-30 winner over Calera when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Devils fell 60-55 to the Eagles on Monday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mortimer Jordan's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mattie Machen, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds, and Kaleah Chatman, who posted 17 points along with six steals and five assists. Machen is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Kaylani Scottland was another key player, putting up six points.

Calera was led to victory by Kora Johnson and Maddison Green. Johnson had 23 points, while Green put up 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Jenkins, who scored eight points.

Mortimer Jordan now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Calera, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Mortimer Jordan will challenge Springville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Calera, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gardendale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
