The Kenosha Christian Life Eagles took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (and then some). They blew past Cristo Rey St. Martin, posting a 74-31 win at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Kenosha Christian Life also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Kenosha Christian Life's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Gardner led the charge by scoring 13 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Carroll, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Cristo Rey St. Martin saw an underclassman step up: Lebron Massey dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Massey scored a full 41.9% of Cristo Rey St. Martin's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Cristo Rey St. Martin struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Kenosha Christian Life racked up 13.
Kenosha Christian Life's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cristo Rey St. Martin, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenosha Christian Life will square off against Brookfield Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cristo Rey St. Martin, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake County Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
