Even though Broughton has not done well against the Jaguars recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Broughton had just enough and edged the Jaguars out 49-47. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 7 on the offensive boards, as Broughton did.
It was another big night for Kalajah Wright, who scored 23 points along with seven steals and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Broughton's points. Another player making a difference was Kendall Walpole, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Leesville Road over the Eagles in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Leesville Road blew the Eagles out of the water with a 57-13 final score. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Leesville Road has managed all season.
Molly Zuburg continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 14 points, ten assists, and 11 steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Lewis, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Broughton pushed their record up to 9-10 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Leesville Road, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Broughton came up short against the Pride when the teams last played back in January, falling 50-38. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Leesville Road's Chloe Fulk, who scored 16 points along with three steals and two blocks.
