Two dominant signal callers in Kaden Davis and Danny Charles Brown are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Freedom Patriots will be playing at home against the McDowell Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Freedom has three straight victories, McDowell has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Freedom's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Alexander Central 42-0. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won six matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Kobe Johnson, who picked up 147 receiving yards and three TDs. Jacorian Logan was another key player, rushing for 63 yards and one touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Freedom proved: they limited Alexander Central to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The dominant display was nothing new: the Patriots have now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, McDowell played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Watauga and fell 55-21. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-7.
Although McDowell took the loss, they still got scores from Isael Trejo, Jay'Ron Moore, and Hunter Pittman.
Freedom's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for McDowell, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Freedom has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 184.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like McDowell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 171.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Freedom might still be hurting after the 30-6 defeat they got from McDowell in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
