Basketball Game Preview: San Jacinto Leadership Academy Lions vs. Temecula Prep Patriots

The San Jacinto Leadership Academy Lions will face off against the Temecula Prep Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down California Military Institute 61-46.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ezra Olguin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Olguin a new career-high in steals (seven). Jake Gagnepain was another key player, putting up 20 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Temecula Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Wolves, posting a 76-32 win. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 534th, while the Wolves are ranked 1122nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Temecula Prep, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy took a serious blow against Temecula Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 75-45. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point San Jacinto Leadership Academy was down 41-13.
