The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders were the 38-34 winner over the Dexter Bearcats when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Saxony Lutheran was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 47-46 to Dexter.
Despite the loss, Saxony Lutheran had strong showings from Evie Caruso, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Abigail Haley, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Haley scored a full 32.6% of Saxony Lutheran's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Timora Criddle, who scored 9 points.
Saxony Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Dexter, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saxony Lutheran will take on St. Vincent at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dexter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Madrid County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
