After flying high against the Union Spartans last Tuesday, the Lakewood Leopards came back down to earth. Lakewood was the victim of a tough 71-48 loss at the hands of North Duplin on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Lakewood has suffered yet this season.
Lakewood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Williams, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Williams grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Juan Parker Jr., who scored ten points.
Donavan Armwood was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 13 points. Dujuan Armwood was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Lakewood bumped their record down to 4-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for North Duplin, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.
Lakewood will face off against Hobbton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobbton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for North Duplin, they will be playing at home against Union at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
