Mead hasn't had much luck against Shelby-Rising City recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Mead has given up an average of 33.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Mead after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost to East Butler on the road by a 40-26 margin. While the Raiders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 6-0 in the first quarter.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Mason Reed and Grant Kozisek. Kozisek had a great game and rushed for 316 yards and five TDs while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Reed was balling out in the loss, throwing for 254 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 58 yards and one score.
Mead didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Abram Lee and Preston Price. Brady Gartner was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Shelby-Rising City strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took their matchup with ease, bagging an 84-8 win over Centennial. With the Huskies ahead 60-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Shelby-Rising City's win came from a few key players Mead will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carter Eickmeier, who rushed for 146 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 102 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Dayne Neujahr, who rushed for 144 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries.
Shelby-Rising City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 428 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
One reason for the win was Shelby-Rising City's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Eli Fjell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Mead's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Shelby-Rising City, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Reed and Logan Lindsley. Reed just won't slow down this season and has thrown 13 touchdowns while averaging 163.8 passing yards per game. Lindsley has been a dominant force too and has thrown 7 touchdowns (and no picks) while averaging 44.3 passing yards per game.
Mead took a serious blow against Shelby-Rising City in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 52-6. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Eickmeier, who rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry.
