Basketball Game Preview: Steinbrenner Warriors vs. Sickles Gryphons

Steinbrenner is 8-2 against Sickles since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Steinbrenner Warriors will face off against the Sickles Gryphons at 8:00 p.m. One thing working in Steinbrenner's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Steinbrenner is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past King, posting an 86-18 win. Fans of the Warriors have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Steinbrenner's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samantha Coble led the charge by putting up 26 points. The dominant performance gave Coble a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Coble, who posted 21 points.

Meanwhile, Sickles has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 29.88 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell 62-55 to Bloomingdale. The Gryphons have struggled against the Bulls recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Steinbrenner will have to contain Jadyn Watts as she made an impact in Sickles' last game. She dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. Watts' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Sharpe, who put up 13 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Steinbrenner's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.0 points per game. As for Sickles, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
