The Princeton Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They secured a 68-62 W over Evansville Central. That's two games straight that Princeton has won by exactly six points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Princeton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lexi Smith, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Azaryon Wesley was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Evansville Central still got an impressive performance from Madalynn Shirley, who scored 25 points along with five assists. Shirley has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Skelton, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Princeton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Evansville Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.
Princeton will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (Heritage Hills is ranked 77th, while the Tigers are ranked 53rd). As for Evansville Central, they will square off against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jasper is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
