The Eastside Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 64-49 fall against Lakeland. While losing is never fun, Eastside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while Lakeland is ranked 82nd).
When it comes to explaining why Eastside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kelvin Baker. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Quashawn Brittingham was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakeland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tre' Jackson, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Shanard Clower, who scored six points along with six assists and six steals.
Eastside has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Lakeland, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastside will take on Newberry at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Lake Gibson at 7:30 p.m.
