Texico is 0-10 against Eunice since April of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Wolverines will head out to square off against the Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Texico is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Laguna Acoma a 15-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolverines considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Gavin Reese made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Reese was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jesus Chavez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Texico: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Jesus Davalos was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one triple.
Texico was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .654. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Eunice waltzed into their contest last Saturday with 24 straight wins... but they left with 25. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Wolverines. Considering the Cardinals have won 16 games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Elijah Melancon looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Randy Gallegos was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaac Morales, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Texico's record is now 11-12. As for Eunice, their record now sits at 25-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Texico has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eunice struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Texico might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Eunice in their previous meeting last Saturday. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
