Valley Christian is 0-10 against Saint Francis since April of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Valley Christian 2.4, Saint Francis 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Valley Christian's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Willow Glen hitters got past them. The Warriors lost 10-3 to the Rams two weeks ago. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered since May 21, 2024.
Valley Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Paquiz, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Saint Francis waltzed into their game on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Wildcats. Considering the Lancers have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Maya Yumiba, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since April 3rd. Malianna Liongitau was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
Saint Francis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Los Gatos only posted an OBP of .286.
Saint Francis' record is now 19-2. As for Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Valley Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Saint Francis struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Valley Christian suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Saint Francis in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
