Even though the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes have not done well against the Irmo Yellowjackets recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Dutch Fork secured a 48-43 W over Irmo. The score was all tied up 18-18 at the break, but Dutch Fork was the better team in the second half.
Bryson Taylor was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jake Bogan was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Irmo lost, one person who can't be blamed is AJ Brand. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. The game was Brand's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Hopkins, who scored six points.
Dutch Fork now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Irmo, they have fallen quite a ways from their 26-5 record last season and are now at 2-6.
Dutch Fork will head out on the road to face off against Aiken at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Aiken is ranked 76th, while Dutch Fork is ranked 89th). Irmo won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. Chapin is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
