Covenant Christian Academy had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 54-53 to Dayspring Christian Academy. Covenant Christian Academy lost against Dayspring Christian Academy in their previous head to head back in December of 2016, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 36-34 score last time.
Dayspring Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miracle Johnsons led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Huxta, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Covenant Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Christian Academy will square off against Phelps at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against High Point Baptist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
