If the Aurora Central Trojans were riding high off their 48-20 takedown of the Gateway Olympians last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Aurora Central was dealt a 60-15 loss at the hands of George Washington on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Aurora Central has suffered yet this season.
Despite the defeat, Aurora Central had strong showings from Jamaea Johnson Gonzalez, who scored a point along with 12 rebounds and three steals, and Alayna McClain, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals. McClain is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Aurora Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for George Washington, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10.
Aurora Central and Adams City will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Adams City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday. As for George Washington, they will be playing at home against Thomas Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thomas Jefferson is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
