After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northwood Academy, the John Paul II Golden Warrriors were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 62-21 victory over Charleston Collegiate on the road. Given John Paul II's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Charleston Collegiate is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brady Mahoney continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lauren Majorkiewicz, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
John Paul II's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Charleston Collegiate, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John Paul II will take on Hilton Head Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hilton Head Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
