The Clark Chargers will face off against the Ramona Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Clark is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
While Clark's win against Sports Leadership & Management wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Clark had just enough and edged out Sports Leadership & Management 8-7 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted since February 28th.
Bryan Humes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Kellen Anunson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Ramona started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Otay Ranch. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5 on Friday.
Ramona also got a good showing from Jakob Coxen, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Coxen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Derek Taylor was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Zack Nightingale, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Ramona dropped their record down to 3-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Clark, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5.
Ramona's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clark has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. It's a different story for Ramona, though, as they've only averaged .351.
