Forest Hills has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Forest Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matchups -- so hopefully the Blue Devils like a good challenge.
Last Friday, Forest Hills strolled past the Mountaineers with points to spare, taking the game 69-51. Given Forest Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Mountaineers are ranked 608th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Forest Hills' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Koy McGough, who scored 17 points along with six steals, and Dylan Stohon, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Stohon continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brandon Gregovich, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bellwood-Antis had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Central Cambria with a 50-44 win on Friday. The win was just what Bellwood-Antis needed coming off of a 65-32 defeat in their prior game.
Holden Schreier was a one-man wrecking crew for Bellwood-Antis as he scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Martin Fatzinger was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Forest Hills is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Bellwood-Antis, their win bumped their record up to 5-14.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Forest Hills have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bellwood-Antis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Forest Hills' way against the Blue Devils when the teams last played back in February of 2019 as the Rangers made off with a 66-40 victory. Will Forest Hills repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
